A transitional Drachm from Parion
Lot 472
MYSIA. Parion. Late 5th to early 4th century. Drachm (Silver, 12 mm, 2.96 g). Facing gorgoneion with protruding tongue. Rev. Linear cross-shaped pattern with faint central pellet within incuse square. SNG Paris 1350 var. (later style). SNG von Aulock 1318 (earlier style). Very fine.

This appears to be a transitional issue: while the obverse is similar to the usual 5th Century drachms, the reverse pattern with its regular cross-shaped pattern is already much more refined.
